Dr. Stephen Ruso
Dr. Ruso graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a degree in psychology, where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and the Golden Key International Honor Society. After, he earned his doctorate in dental surgery from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he graduated with honors, and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
After dental school, he continued his education at the Baylor College of Dentistry where he earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology and received his Certificate in Orthodontics. In 2012, the American Board of Orthodontics certified Dr. Ruso with diplomate status. Dr. Ruso has published several articles on accelerated orthodontic treatment, and is on staff at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital as a member of the of the Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Team.
As a board certified orthodontist, Dr. Ruso seeks to treat every patient to the highest standard of care and maintain a culture of excellence at the practice. With the latest advances, orthodontic care is now more efficient and comfortable than ever. Orthodontics also has the ability to improve one’s facial esthetics, airway/breathing, and function. All of these factors will be considered when designing your treatment.
Dr. Ruso is married to his beautiful wife Geri, who is an elementary school teacher. Together, they are happy to be a part of the Brevard community. Outside of the office he enjoys spending time with his hilarious dogs, as well as fishing, hiking, and Gator sports.
Dr. Teresa Brigance
Dr. Brigance spent her early years traveling the world as an Air Force brat, though her family eventually settled in Shalimar Florida. She decided in the eighth grade that she wanted to study orthodontics and this led her to the University of Florida, where she graduated with a degree in Microbiology with high honors and and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
She continued her education at the UF College of Dentistry and graduated at the top of her class in 1990, and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental student honor society.
After dental school, she joined the U.S. Army and practiced as a general dentist while stationed in Germany. After her military service Dr. Brigance continued her specialty training with a 3 year residency in orthodontics at the UF College of Dentistry post-doctoral program where she also earned a Master of Science Degree. Her thesis focused on facial growth and the treatment of the under developed jaw in children.
Dr. Brigance has been practicing orthodontics in Melbourne, Florida since 1996 and was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2007. Dr. Brigance is the proud mother to Eli and Nathan and if they spare her a moment, she’d love to get back to ballroom dancing someday.
